minor – user experience design – two products – user experience research – haptic button & touch screen
During my bachelorstudies Communication and Multimedia Design, I did a minor about User Experience Design. This minor was designed to get more of a deep dive into the world of User Experience and Interactions. It was the aim to design web and mobile interfaces that are a positive experience to use in themselves and which also make a positive contribution to the user’s overall experience with the organisation that provides the product / service via the interface. The assignments came from real clients or we’re based on briefs of real clients, to give us a feeling of the real digitalagency-life.
Design challenge
Design the handover between a touch mobile phone and an in-car infotainmentsystem with one haptic button, while setting up a first time use scenario and an everyday handover scenario
The product
A prototype video
Research methods
Problem definition
Scenario’s
Microinteractions specifications, storyboards and a map
Seductive principles
Biggest learning
It was fun to design something different than for an app or website, plus the haptic button made it interesting
Summary
This was the final assignment of the minor and included working for a real client: Volkswagen Group. The infotainment system of the car had to work together with a smartphone. I used all the previous learnings during the minor that included; micro interactions, seductive interaction design, the use of ‘mental note cards’ etcetera.
